Transformers Animated Season Two
SCORE: 80
The WMG has always had a special place for Transformers. The toys are
actually two toys in one; a robot, and a vehicle. Plus transforming them
never gets old. Season One of Transformers Animated introduced the
viewers to a very limited roster of the Autobots, and Decepticons. There
were also plenty of changes from the 80's Transformers cartoon.
Transformers Animated Season Two lets viewers dig deeper into this
robotic world by introducing even more characters, and differentiating
itself from previous cartoons even furthers. In a lot of ways this
series makes a lot more sense, and fleshes out characters a lot more.
Transformers Animated Season Two has an almost anime look to it. The
designers made the robots look more human, and less (well) robotic. The
sizes of the various transformers is diverse, and that adds a layer of
realism to the cartoon. There is violence in this cartoon which reminds
the WMG of the Justice League Unlimited cartoon. A punch is thrown, the
screen flashes, and the recipient is seen flying the other direction.
The different transformers have different weapons, and this is a big
improvement from the 80's cartoon (editor: which had all the robots
shooting at each other a lot).
Voice acting in cartoons has come a long way over the decades.
Transformers Animated Season Two has some great voice acting with a lot
of emotion in each of the characters. There are some characters on these
DVD's that are arrogant, rude, and plain mean. One of the episodes talks
about bending the rules, and following ones gut. The character in
question disobeys a direct order, and it is shown as the right thing to
do. There are also episodes where characters apologize for being wrong,
and they make amends.
Transformers Animated Season Two includes just under 300 minutes(297 to
be exact) in 13 television episodes on the two DVD's. There is audio
commentary, animated shorts, and a photo gallery. If you like
Transformers, or well written cartoons, and are not bothered by the
violence the WMG feels Transformers Animated Season Two is worth the
money. Children that were allowed to watch this under the supervision of
the WMG enjoyed it. The WMG liked the very intricate storyline that
wrapped up some wonderful threads.
Paramount did a good job with the menu layouts in Transformers Animated
Season Two. The background graphics never got in the way of the menus,
and the offsetting colors of the display cursor worked fabulously.
Transformers Animated Season Two introduces a lot of intrigue, and
interest in the Transformer universe that has been created from
imagination. The twists and turns in the plot were masterful, and many
of them are shocking. The surprises at the end of the last episode were
hinted at, but the WMG did not expect certain things. What will happen
next season has the WMG eagerly anticipating the next season DVD
release.
Transformers Animated Season Two has plenty of wonderful lessons.
Optimus Prime does the right thing even when he is mistreated. There are
a lot of other characters who also do the right thing, and help out
their friends. This kind of grace, and forgiveness is well received here
at Family Friendly Gaming. The evil characters worship a false god,
destroy, act selfish and plenty of other normal bad behaviors. One of
the most important lessons in this DVD package is you can decide who you
will be. Don't let peer pressure tell you to be a certain way.
