TouchMaster 2
SCORE: 91
There are games that I suspect will be shining gems when I first read press releases about them. TouchMaster 2 is one of those Nintendo DS video games, and I was not disappointed. TouchMaster 2 contains twenty strategy, action, puzzle, and card games. This is the type of a video game that improves the image of the video game industry, and Midway as a company. I am very happy to see a game like this on the market, and the diversity of the games included are great. Midway has made tremendous progress with the release of TouchMaster 2 on the Nintendo DS.
The soft colors used in TouchMaster 2 make this a very approachable game. The images in the card games are just large enough to easily be discernible. The different word games have wonderful large letters for ease of use. I did not find any offensive images while playing TouchMaster 2.
Normally mini game compilations have music thrust upon the game with no thought put into it. TouchMaster 2 exhibits an amazing intelligent design when it comes to the music, and special effect sounds. The instructions for each of the games is strategically placed to assist anyone who has a problem figuring out how to play a certain game.
I love games that I can play for a few minutes, and then put down as something in life needs my immediate attention. TouchMaster 2 is great in this regard. There are so many different fun games that TouchMaster 2 could easily be played for years after its initial purchase. Midway made sure there are enough modes, and unlockables to keep even the most hardcore gamer busy. I feel that TouchMaster 2 is worth the price of admission.
The controls in TouchMaster 2 are near perfect in my book. The touch screen only work great, although it took me a minute to adjust to them since I am so used to using the buttons on whatever machine I am using. The instructions on the help, and right before starting a game screens alleviate any confusion. I did find a few of the games take a couple of tries. Once I got it though, I had a blast playing this Nintendo DS video game.
There are only two issues I had concerns with while playing
TouchMaster 2. I gave extra attention to the card games making sure
gambling was not being promoted. I also took interest in the Rampage
like game, which is actually a word game where the monster breaks the
level after the word is spelled. I would love to see sequels to
TouchMaster 2.
