The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea

Family Friendly Gaming has come a long way in the last three plus years. We had kicked around the idea of reviewing DVD's in the past, but 2008 is the year we started them. When I heard about the release of The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea, well I wanted to return to the sea. The original was controversial with my grandmother because Ariel openly disobeyed her parents. Ariel gets to see the problem from the other side as she is now the mother, and her daughter does not obey her. You know what they say, children will act like their parents. Disney threw an interested twist in The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea, because Ariel is not truthful with her daughter about why she wants her to avoid the sea.

The animation is good in The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea. I enjoyed seeing the different characters grown up, and having younger versions (children). We are suckers for good wholesome family images here at Family Friendly Gaming. The mermaids, and mermen wear sea shells, and nothing (in that respective order) on their upper bodies. I was not bothered by this, but know there are families that are. So I wanted to bring that issue up. The violence in The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea is very mild, and cartoonish in application.

The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea has okay songs, and good music. It can be difficult to follow up a previous version that had hit musical songs in it. The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea makes the attempt, and there is nothing I found wrong with the songs, they were just not as catchy as the first one. I really wish Ariel had been honest with her daughter Melody. But then if she had there would have been no drama in the movie.

There are a few extras in The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea, but not a lot (even though it is the Special Edition). In fact I have been noticing more and more recent releases seem to be scaling back the extras on the DVD format. My theory is it is an attempt to get us to upgrade to bluray, which in my book is not yet worth the price of the format. Anyways The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea is an enjoyable movie that children will enjoy watching multiple times.

I like the Fastplay feature that Disney has been including in their DVD's. Thanks to Fastplay The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea has great functionality. There was one screen that I was a little confused on where I was, but with a little attention to detail I figured it out. I found this DVD to be an enjoyable story that teaches families a good lesson.

Talking about the main lesson in The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea brings us to the family friendly factor. This lesson is honesty is the best policy. The entire problems this family experiences is because of a lack of honesty. They have opportunities early on, but they squander them. So a minor lesson of time being precious is also included. The disobedience of the child is another issue. The Little Mermaid II Return to the Sea brings Ariel full circle from the disobedient teenager to the parent dealing with a disobedient (almost) teenager.
