Tak Mojo Mistake

SCORE: 73

Tak Mojo Mistake

Tak is an interesting character. He is a shaman that uses alchemy to create magical spells that save the day. That is the main premise in Tak Mojo Mistake on the Nintendo DS. There are some mini games as well as the main game. This is a Nickelodean license from the publisher THQ.

The alchemy aspect of Tak Mojo Mistake is visually one a lot of families will take interest in. The player mixes the items together on the screen a lot like mixing ingredients in a bowl. In fact it reminded me a lot of how we make home made bread. There is some violence as Tak can hurt enemies by whacking them with his magic stick.

The jungle music in Tak Mojo Mistake did not impress me one bit. In fact I was a little unhappy with them. Tak reminds me of kids who have not received a healthy dose of discipline. If I talked that way to my elders when I was a kid, I would have been tasting soap if you know what I mean.

There are some fun little mini games in Tak Mojo Mistake, however the Nintendo DS is drowning with a lot of video games that include fun little mini games. The main quest has one thing going for it - mixing and matching for the alchemy. That is pretty limited and the Juju magic (while not offensive) does not retain interest for long.

I had some trouble playing Tak Mojo Mistake for the Nintendo DS. I kept getting stuck and could not figure out what to do next. At times I thought I had done it, but the game did not open the next path until a certain thing was satisfied. The layout of the controls works the way it should. Like I mentioned before some of the mini games are fun.

I find it appropriate that Tak wants to fix his mistake. I have no wonder why since his attitude is so disrespectful. It is like the character does not fit the theme of helping others. Tak Mojo Mistake could have been a lot better with a few minor tweaks. I would like to see a sequel to this DS game where those tweaks are realized.
