Sega Bass Fishing

Hunting and fishing take a lot of patience. so I was interested in how Sega Bass Fishing weighs in. Sega included a variety of play modes to fit the different person. There is an Arcade mode where speed is rewarded, then a Tournament mode that lets the fisherman forget about the clock. A Practice mode is included so you can get better at using the Wii Remote to catch fish. Finally, and my favorite is the Nature Trip mode that let me go out somewhere and fish as long as I wanted to. Get the boat ready, check those lures, and lets get to some serious fishing.

Sega Bass Fishing looks really good visually. I absolutely love the graphics, and all of the underwater items. Sega did a nice job of making these locations feel realistic. Speaking of realistic the fish look great. There were a couple of times I ran across a catfish while trolling at the bottom and was hoping it would bite. There is nothing graphically offensive in Sega Bass Fishing for the Wii.

Sega Bass Fishing lets you know when a fish is coming near your lure, and when you are reeling properly. I love when a game encourages me when I am doing it right. Sega Bass Fishing was never discouraging and this old man appreciated that. All of the music and sounds add a depth of excitement to fishing that I feel when I am out on the lake.

If you like fishing then you will find months of replay value to Sega Bass Fishing. There are plenty of lures to unlock, locations to fish, then there are seasons, and time of day. Sega has a hit on their hands with this Wii game.

Sega Bass Fishing controls just like a fishing game should. Reeling is done by the ‘A’ or ‘B’ buttons, and then the direction of the Wii Remote is which way the rod is being held. There is a gauge of the line tension when it will break or a fish will get away. This maxes out pretty quickly, and some fish are very difficult to bring in. Of course it is the same way in real life so no complaints there. I wish this game had a way to instantly recast when I was quite a few feet out, and no fish. The reeling can be slow at times.

Sega Bass Fishing is just the kind of a video game that you need to purchase. This Wii game is fun, educational, and teaches patience. Taking shortcuts are not allowed, and that is a great lesson for the youth of today (editor: and a lot of managers, executives, etc.). Sequels are welcome.
