Real Soccer 2009

Sports games are where some of the best video games can be found. I have been playing Real Soccer 2009 on the Nintendo DS and feel that GameLoft has a real winner on their hands. This soccer game beats the Fifa franchise hands down. Every single game I played in Real Soccer 2009 felt like a real soccer game. This DS game is a soccer simulation, and being on the small screen makes it very impressive. There are two hundred soccer teams in Real Soccer 2009 separated out by region. I like to play with different teams while I am sports gaming, and Real Soccer 2009 kept me busy for a very long time. I can see it keeping me busy for many months to come as well.

Real Soccer 2009 looks okay for the Nintendo DS with a lot of different character animations. I felt the main screen graphics were a little small, but this kind of a game is not about eye candy. It is about the life like simulation of soccer. The stadiums look good, and the people (an interest of mine in every single sports game) are not very detailed. I did not find any offensive graphics, and there were no player temper tantrums.

The music in Real Soccer 2009 is great. From the cheering of the crowd to the menu screens. I was not expecting this level of polish, so it brought a smile to my face. I absolutely loved hearing the crowd cheer after finally getting a goal. The training areas are well stocked, and easy to use. I love it when a sports game has no offensive sounds, and Real Soccer 2009 is one of those games.

In my opening paragraph I mentioned I plan on playing Real Soccer 2009 for months to come. This is one intense and strategic soccer game. I hope to find the time to unlock all the different strategies to success in all the different modes. I forgot to mention that didn't I? GameLoft  included a lot of different modes, teams, and stadiums. Plus more than one player can play each other through wireless play. If you like sports games, especially soccer ones then you need to buy Real Soccer 2009 as soon as you can. You will thank me later.

I am so thankful for the training sessions included (but not mandatory) in Real Soccer 2009. They explain the controls in a way that anyone can comprehend. If you forget you can always go back to the training modes, or check the game manual. I found Real Soccer 2009 to be a lot of fun to play.

We need more games like Real Soccer 2009, because they keep EA honest (editor: and trying to compete). I hope to see this soccer series for a long time to come, and I would love to see GameLoft get home console (and hand held) football (American) and basketball games on the market as well.
