Puzzle Guzzle

There are days that I really love my job at Family Friendly Gaming (FFG). Playing through Puzzle Guzzle on the Playstation Portable (PSP) is one such day. Agetec has been a quirky publisher with some fun little games in their history. Admittedly those of us at FFG have not like all of their games, but each game is a fresh slate for each developer/publisher. This PSP video game has the player rotating tiles to create shapes. Once shapes are created the blocks vanish. This sounds way easier than it can be when the action gets fast and frantic.

The graphics in Puzzle Guzzle really shine for a puzzle game. I love the plethora of colors used by Agetec. The different little shapes have quite a bit of character to them. Players can duel against them, and then acquire attributes like a hat, nose, etc. The backgrounds are all neat and do not distract from the puzzle action. Some of the special effect graphics have to be seen.

I really like the sounds found within Puzzle Guzzle. The music was rather catchy in a way that brought a smile to my face. I also enjoyed the special effect sounds that fit the theme of this game. I did not find any offensive sounds while I was playing Puzzle Guzzle.

Puzzle Guzzle is a lot like Tetris in the main game mode, and then there are tons of characters in the game to interact with. A stunning amount of items that can change the look of your characters are also included. Agetec also included plenty of game sharing via a Wi-Fi connection. Only one UMD disc of Puzzle Guzzle is needed which is a major bonus. I feel this is the kind of a video game that is worth your hard earned dollars.

It takes a few minutes to get used to the creating of diagonal shapes by rotating the blocks. Once I got that down, I found there is a lot of strategy to be found within Puzzle Guzzle. The controls work just as they should, and they exhibit an intelligent design. I found Puzzle Guzzle to be a fun video game to play.

I would love to see a sequel to Puzzle Guzzle on the Playstation Portable. This is the kind of a video game that is safe for the entire family. Puzzle Guzzle shows that good, clean video games can be fun as well. Every aspect of Puzzle Guzzle feels fresh, upbeat, and uplifting to me. The only issue I can see fellow parents having with this game is the concept of stealing attributes from opponents after defeating them.
