Pixeljunk Racers
SCORE: 70
The Playstation 3 has really followed the excellent lead of Microsoft when it comes to downloadable video games. Sadly not all of them are good, as this review will showcase. Micro machines has larger car models than Pixeljunk Racers. That is a horrible category to be put in.
Sony threw in an array of different modes for the player to perform on many of the same miniature tracks. Smash into as many cars as possible in so many seconds, then avoid all cars. These challenges then range from passing so many cars to lapping the other cars so many times.
The music was meh at best. The controls lag beyond belief. This is a Playstation 3 game people. I do not care how few dollars the download cost. I expect decent controls. Free online video games on the computer have better working controls, and more of them. I found Pixeljunk Racers to be so annoying and boring that I could not stomach replaying this game.
At times the challenge was so vague I thought I had fallen asleep during the short instruction phase. Morally and ethically speaking the biggest problem I had with this game was the encouragement to ram into other vehicles during certain missions. I find it more productive to avoid hitting other vehicles on the road.
With all of the road rage
going around do we really need to fantasize about smashing other
people’s vehicles? I would definitely say pass on this little game. Your
eyes will thank me for not having to squint trying to see such small
graphical content.
