Petz Catz 2

Petz: Catz 2 is the sequel to Petz:Catz. This is the very first time I’ve played a Petz game, so it was a new concept and kind of exciting way to play. While I thought this would be a pet simulator (like the Nintendo DS version of Catz 2 is), it turns out there was an entire story written with a human-like environment where the cats live. Homes, Zoos, Shops (like a Pawn Shop), and all the regulars are there. It could be considered a Role Playing Game, much like the Playstation 2 (PS2) version. There is hardly any violence in this family friendly Wii video game at all.

First off, the graphics in Petz Catz 2 were a slight improvement over the Playstation 2 version, which is a definite plus. However, the menus are a little bland and could have been a bit more colorful and involved. Many of the same colors are re-used in the different screens. The cats look nice and have realistic cat-like movements. There were no offensive images shown in this Nintendo Wii video game.

The sounds in Petz Catz 2 are also very family friendly. Cats meowing to the river streams flowing, Ubisoft took careful notice. The music is also nice and can easily get stuck in the players head. Sitting and listening to the music is entertaining enough for some staffers here at Family Friendly Gaming. No offensive sounds were made.

The controls are also pretty cool. Using the pointer of the Wii remote, aim where you want to go, then hold the B-button to walk/run (depending on how far ahead you point determines your speed). There is little violence in Petz Catz 2, which includes throwing rocks at enemies, only stunning them.

Sadly, I have to say I wish there was a bit more with the game. Most of Petz Catz 2 consists of side-quests. The majority of those side-quests involve going to an area and digging up something. The item is then taken back to the animal that needed it. A little variety would have helped this Wii video game a lot. If you’re a cat person, then Petz: Catz 2 is worth your money. Until then, my many friends. Happy gaming!
