Order Up

Order Up is part Cooking Mama, and part Diner Dash. The combination of the two is good, clean, wholesome chaotic fun. Players get to play a chef who slowly builds his diner into a success. People come in, their orders are taken, and then the meals are prepared. Order Up starts the player with a few, and then allows the player to purchase more menu items. Food critics can be brought in and impressed, which leads to greater exposure. Employees can be hired to help out. In a lot of ways Order Up is one of the most well rounded cooking games that emulates the life of a short order chef.

The visuals in Order Up have an amazingly bright, colorful, and upbeat look to them. The graphics are very cartoonish and reminded me of the Pink Panther cartoons. The food items look realistic, and animated well during the cooking process. There is some minor cartoon mischief used for humor like Looney Tunes, but nowhere near that level. I did not run into graphics I would consider offensive.

The music in Order Up is really cool. The humorous moments in the movies hit the right notes at the right time to illicit laughter from me. The cooking sounds are very realistic (which is nice in a cartoonish looking game). The sounds were so realistic, that I started getting hungry on my third hamburger. So the sounds work great, and add a lot to Order Up. It goes without saying that I did not hear any offensive sounds while playing this Wii video game.

Order Up is the kind of a video game that can be played by anyone in the family for months upon months. Zoo Games knows what they are doing in the replay department. There are so many things to unlock, and recipes to perform that I find this one of the shining gems on the Nintendo Wii. Only one player can play this Wii game at a time. I feel that Order Up is worth your hard earned dollars. If you can find a copy of the game snatch it up.

The intelligent design to the controls in Order Up exhibit some real talent at the developer’s studio. They know what they are doing, and they know what works. I have one minor complaint, and that is the timer on the lettuce. It goes way too fast, or the lettuce is too difficult to pull leaves off of. This is a minor issue, but one worth mentioning. I had an amazing amount of fun playing Order Up on the Wii.

Zoo Games has become one of my personal favorite developers. Order Up is a great video game that is safe for the entire family. Players learn to work hard to earn rewards from this game. If you need any extra incentives let me share this little secret - the game comes with a Chef’s Hat. Sequels to Order Up are extremely welcome at Family Friendly Gaming.
