Neopets Puzzle Adventure
SCORE: 85
My first exposure to Neopets was in the Capcom booth at E3 in the year of our Lord 2008. Neopets Puzzle Adventure on the Nintendo DS impressed me then, and continues to impress me now. We get to choose our character, and play through a lengthy story mode where the main mode of game play is a tile turning game which the game explains masterfully in the very first level. There is no need to be scared of the tile turning (and placing) game since it is pretty simple for beginners, and includes enough strategy to keep super strategic players engaged as well.
Neopets Puzzle Adventure has a very bright and color look to it. The artistic direction of this Nintendo DS game is safe for most members of the family. The different pets available look like different animals. The only weird thing is they are wearing clothes. The tile color choices of blue and red work great, and make the game easy to play. The visual assistance when taking some time to think will assist younger players.
The music in Neopets Puzzle Adventure is pleasant, and the firework sounds when a match is won is quite appropriate. This game has us helping out others, and 'scaring' different creatures back to where they belong. I did not run into text or sounds I found offensive. The main music in this DS game has an Orient flavor, which I personally enjoy.
Neopets Puzzle Adventure has a really good amount of replay value. There is one caveat to that - the main part of this game is the tile placing/turning. If you are not into that, then you will not like this game. If you are into a safe for the entire family, fun Nintendo DS video game then you will find your money well spent on Neopets Puzzle Adventure.
The controls scheme work great, and many of the menu screens allow for buttons as well as touch screen. I had a lot of fun playing Neopets Puzzle Adventure, and think millions of Americans (editor: and families all over the world) will as well. The different mini games included, as well as the main game exhibit an intelligent design.
Neopets Puzzle Adventure
is one of those games that I would love to play for months. This kind of
a game deserves sequels, and works great on the Nintendo DS. Capcom
included unockables that can be used online, as well as inside the game.
I really like the theme of helping others that is in this DS game in
quite a few of the missions.
