Margots Word Brain

I hit a point in my life where things like Word Games would bore me to tears. I listened to the lies of the world, and thought I needed enticement to lust, violence, anger, revenge and other such bad content to have fun. I have since matured past that point to acknowledge those things are lies of the world. So a game like Margot’s Word Brain comes across my desk, and it gets me thinking. This is one fun little Nintendo DS video game. The true shame is, you will probably only hear that from Family Friendly Gaming. It is my hope and prayer though, that as we review games like this, and set the record straight - eventually it will have an impact on those repeating that particular lie of the world. We have seen amazing impact in the video game industry over recent years, and the revival of the video game media has just begun.

Margot’s Word Brain uses gentle colors that contrast against each other in a smooth, and soothing fashion. I saw the Nintendo Wii version, and must say that when I factor in system limitations the Nintendo DS is more impressive in the graphical department. I like colors used, and the little animations of the main character.

Margot’s Word Brain has exceptional sounds. I love that little jingle that sings the name of the game. In fact that jingle is still stuck in my head today. There are some mild language issues, but I was so happy to see God as one of the words in this game, and it was in a neutral manner. I really liked how Margot’s Word Brain trains the players to learn, find patterns, and generally improve themselves. I feel that Zoo Games has an excellent franchise on their hands.

Margot’s Word Brain has an amazing amount of replay value to it. In fact I can see this game used to stimulate thought, and help children develop mentally. There are not a lot of unlockables, but I still feel Margot’s Word Brain is worth your extremely hard earned dollars.

I rarely even think about how the Nintendo DS has changed gaming. Margot’s Word Brain would not be as much fun on the Playstation Portable, or even Gameboy Advance. The controls are great, and the concept is simple enough that the tutorials included are rarely needed. I had fun playing Margot’s Word Brain, even if the game does not think I am the brightest bulb in the light socket.

Zoo Games is doing a good thing with a game like Margot’s Word Brain on the Nintendo DS. The video game industry needs more games like this one, and it was my personal honor and privilege to be able to play this DS video game. I love games that exercise the brain, and Margot’s Word Brain is one such video game. I hope to see more games like this in the future.
