MLB08 The Show

Finally the Working Man Gamer is back in baseball! If you smell what the WMG is cooking. Welcome to the show on the Playstation 2. MLB08 The Show that is. This baseball simulation video game makes the WMG think about the smell of the grass, hot dogs, and hearing the crack of the bat. The WMG broke quite a few bats while playing MLB08 The Show. It is nice to see Sony still supporting the PS2 with the release of MLB08 The Show. The one question the WMG has is where is the seventh inning stretch? You know take me out to the ball game?

The graphics look pretty good on the Playstation 2. This machine is starting to show its age, and certainly does not compare to the PS3’s MLB08 The Show. There are some nice player animations, and they have a lot of real life mannerisms. Yes to those who are wondering there are players who adjust their cups before batting. Realistic yes, thankfully one button press can bypass that. The WMG would like the stands to look better, and the lack of ballboys, ballgirls to get foul balls feels weird.

There are a couple of catchy tunes that come with MLB08 The Show, and a few that can easily give a headache. Sony lets the player turn off/on certain songs so this is not much an issue. The announcers do a good job with their commentary most of the time. A few times the WMG caught them off a bit, but thats forgivable.

If you like baseball, have a PS2, and do not have a PS3 then MLB08 The Show is worth your hard earned dollars. MLB08 The Show has online, lets you play locally with a friend, and is easy for beginners to play. MLB08 The Show on the PS2 does so much that it feels like its very own baseball league. Has the Home Run Derby been mentioned yet?

MLB08 The Show has some interesting controls. When the pitcher starts to get rattled then the pitching gauge gets harder to use. This realism gets noticed by the WMG. The level of stats in this PS2 game is astounding.

Baseball can teach patience, concentration, and team work. This is not for everyone, but rest assured that there are a lot of people in our culture who could use some of these life lessons. More please Sony.
