Lost Magic

There are games that shock the RPG Master, and Lost Magic is one such game. The level of the occult in this game is alarming. Players must draw occultic symbols in order to perform magical defenses, and attacks. The main character is the son of a warlock, and is being raised by a witch. The witch in this game that is “bad” is trying to become a god by collecting these magical wands. Players can also use a magical symbol to trap monsters and force them to fight on their behalf. Battles are done in real time, and use complete touch screen controls of the Nintendo DS. The game box is described as: “In a Kingdom ruled by sorcery, fight to restore peace.”

Lost Magic is nothing to write home about graphically. The simple, and small graphics are a huge disappointment. On top of that high level of occultic images used are highly troubling. Most of the graphics are bright, but many of them seem a little dull. There is also violence as characters whack one another, and hit them with a variety of magical attacks. The RPG Master also found some crude humor from some of the characters.

The music in Lost Magic is average. There was nothing that really stuck out while playing the game, however it was no annoying either. Most of the sounds are crisp and clear, but it really feels like this department was a half hearted effort. The sounds of drawing occultic symbols did not work for the RPG Master in any way, shape or form. The cackling of the witch was rather annoying.

A role playing game with Wi-Fi? Yes, Lost Magic includes online play with other people. Technically your team of characters/monsters gets to fight their team of character/monsters. There is some strategy involved, but mainly whoever has the most powerful monsters and/or who is better at drawing occultic symbols. This game has been dropping in price, but the RPG Master feels your money would be better spent on a game that is not blatant indoctrination into the occult. Family Friendly Gaming may take heat for that statement, but if it saves one person from a satanic cult then it was worth it.

The touch screen controls feel really weird at first. What is annoying is there are not dual controls (meaning more than one way to do the same thing). Lost Magic forces the player to play the game that one way. It would have been wiser of Ubisoft to allow control pad movement since that is what most RPG gamers are more comfortable with. The time limit on screens does not lend itself to the exploration of the RPG gamer either.

Almost every single problem in the role playing game market today can be found in Lost Magic. The occult is to heavy in this game that it suffocates Christian gamers. Where are the RPG’s that reinforce the teachings of Jesus Christ? My fears about the Nintendo DS being used to indoctrinate into the dark arts has been fully realized. Avoid this game like the plague.
