Johnny Cash has a distinctive sound, and I was intrigued when my son told me about the Johnny Cash Chapter & Verse DVD. This package includes a DVD where Mr. Cash reads the New Testament of the New King James version of the Holy Bible. A music CD of some of his old gospel songs are included as well. I would have loved to see his Swing Low Sweet Chariot version included, but thats no big thing but a turkey wing.

The video on Johnny Cash Chapter & Verse was a bit of a let down. The verses of the Holy Bible are there while Johnny Cash is reading, which was not as appealing as I hoped it would be. Bibles on DVD included ‘Walking the Bible’ photo tour. They have nice music playing while showing pictures of places in the Holy Bible. I enjoy that immensely. It would have been nice to see that while Mr. Cash was reading.

Johnny Cash has a great voice that works nicely with reading the Holy Bible. I can easily sit and listen through an entire book of the Holy Bible because of his great voice. The one quibble I have is there is not always a lot of emotion from Mr. Cash in some ares of the Holy Bible I would add emotion when I am reading. The music CD included in a perfect companion to this DVD.

The visual tour of the places in the Holy Bible is one of the best extras I have seen on a DVD in a long while. Unfortunately Johnny Cash Chapter & Verse does not include a lot more in terms of extras. The core of what is included does make it worth while. I enjoy playing a book of the Holy Bible while I am doing something else in the same room. I feel that Johnny Cash Chapter & Verse is a DVD worth your money. If not this one, then another DVD with the Holy Bible on it is highly recommended.

Johnny Cash Chapter & Verse is functional, and all of the menu screens make sense. There was obviously an intelligent design behind the layout of these menu screens. I appreciate that, as well as all of the hard work that went into this project. I had a very enjoyable time using this DVD, and feel you will as well.

Johnny Cash Chapter & Verse is one of those DVD’s that make perfect sense. It is also a very nice tribute to a man that has passed on. He may not have led the perfect life, but then Jesus Christ is the only one to do that - and look what they did to Him. Mr. Cash did make amends, and the Holy Bible had a major impact on his life. I would love to see the Old Testament done by Johnny Cash as some sort of sequel. This DVD teaches great lessons.
