Jeep Thrills
SCORE: 71
The Playstation 2, and Nintendo Wii have been graced with a Jeep
brand based video game. Jeep Thrills is a racing game that lets players
race real authentic Jeep brand vehicles in multiple colors. Family
Friendly Gaming has covered other interesting branding products based
video games before. The Burger King video games were interesting, and
Family Friendly Gaming did jokingly ask for future branded video games.
Jeep Thrills contains okay graphics with some diversity to the race
tracks. There is nothing innovative about Jeep Thrills, however there is
no offensive images either. The level of detail is a little
disappointing especially on the Wii version. The vehicles look very
similar, and the color swapping is nice, but some variety to the
vehicles themselves would have been appreciated. The camera caused me a
few problems, especially when linked in with the gameplay issues
The music in Jeep Thrills is around average. There is nothing that got
me all pumped up and ready to race, nor was there anything that
irritated me to the point I wanted to turn off the game. There is no
offensive language, or sounds in this game. The only problem I ran into
was the revving of the machines got old after a couple of races.
If you are into an extremely challenging game with some race track
issues then Jeep Thrills may be a game you invest in. The difficulty
level is pretty high, so races will have to be replayed multiple times
in order to progress in this PS2/Wii video game. Jeep Thrills can be
found for under twenty dollars, so that may also go into your purchase
making decision.
The controls are okay in Jeep Thrills. The problem is there are too many
spots in the race track where the player can get stuck. The multiple
paths are very intelligent, but hitting a piece of a wall that juts out
and sends my jeep backwards became very frustrating. The booster
included in Jeep Thrills is nice, and helped me see the vehicle in front
of me. I found if I made one mistake in Jeep Thrills, there was no way
to rebound. To me that took away from the fun value of this game.
Jeep Thrills is safe for the entire family, and that is one of the
things that is really going for it. I was able to let my grandchildren
play it with no concern over any offensive content. They enjoyed the
game, even though they were never able to win a race. Sequels to this
franchise would be interesting especially if the race track, and vehicle
variety issues are improved upon. Most branded games are horrible out of
the box, but I can see some rays of light in Jeep Thrills.
