Imagine Fashion Designer

As a mother of two who sews I was interested in Imagine Fashion Designer. What young girl has not played dress up, or dreamed about coming up with a new fashion? Ubisoft hopes to capitalize on those dreams with this Nintendo DS video game. Make up, clothes, hair, and more need to be taken care of. The player gets to take on the role of the fashion designer. Get the right model for a shoot, and make sure she is properly prepared for the job at hand. The real fun comes in when you get to design your very own clothing line.

The details in the visual department are disappointing. Too often I could not tell the difference between one blush style and the next. Take into account jobs can only be performed if the model is set up with exactly the right combination (more on that later). The models walk the cat walk in a way that may bother some, but I would not put myself in that category. Models can be stripped down to their underwear which is probably where the sexually suggestive themes come into play. There are a fair amount of colors used in this game.

Imagine Fashion Designer has okay sounds. Nothing stood out from a crowd, but nothing was offensive either. The fashion world is touched on, but not too deeply. The game is very discouraging when a job is not performed properly. If your child has self esteem problems, then you will want to monitor.

Imagine Fashion Designer gives a few things to do, and one of the most notable is to share your work with friends across local wireless Nintendo DS play. This is a nice little feature, but Wi-Fi would have put it over the top. The story mode has enough to keep girls busy for a bit if they can get past the game play issues coming up in the next paragraph.

Imagine Fashion Designer really needed some assistance when it came to how to do certain things. I still do not know how to properly do a model in traditional Japanese. There are so many different combinations that most girls will wind up giving up. If the game had included an area to get the answer, and then go back to try and duplicate it would have helped. The controls work perfectly though.

I wish Imagine Fashion Designer would have had more of a focus on designing your own clothes, and less on the models. With that said it is nice to see Ubisoft trying a game like this one, because it will interest the female side of the house hold. Guys won’t even need to apply at the door of Imagine Fashion Designer. I would like to see a sequel to this game, with my mentioned improvements.
