Herbie Rescue Rally

I was very skeptical about this game. Not many games can be good like their movie or related items (in my opinion), but Herbie Rescue Rally proved me wrong. Once I popped it in my DS, I went for a ride. The game isn’t amazing by any means, but it is fun on occasion. Prepare yourself for my review.

The graphics are very nice. Especially for a DS game. Not amazing, but the cartoon graphics have a nice feel to them. While it may be limited to the DS’ graphical power, the kids should feel like they are watching a cartoon. Speaking of which, the cut scenes are a giant comic book with characters and speech bubbles. It’s a nice look, and there were no offensive images that I noticed while playing this game.

The sounds are nothing to be admired. While the sound effects are realistic, the player can barely hear the music being played. However, playing the game, I heard no offensive sounds.

The gameplay is what saves Herbie Rescue Rally. It’s a rather fun game, and can be challenging. There is wireless multiplayer, which is very fun. The courses are detailed, but sadly, there are only 4 courses, with the levels being changed around. The story follows the young girl, Louise, and her animal shelter being forced to closed down. They need money, but don’t have it. Seeing this, Louise notices a grand prize for the best racer. She enters the contest, and that is where you begin your adventure. The game teaches that if you have the right mind, and follow your dreams, you can do anything. It is always nice to have games that teach good lessons, and have people helping one another.

In closing, it’s a good game for the kids. I even enjoyed playing Herbie Rescue Rally. There was effort put into the game, and I can tell. It’s cool, and worth the money.
