Fireproof
SCORE: 92
There are behemoth DVD releases, and Fireproof is one of those
behemoth DVD releases. January 27, in the year of our Lord 2009 is when
the public can get their hands on this fantastic movie. Family Friendly
Gaming was blessed to receive an early DVD Review Screener so we could
report on this DVD before Christmas. This is the kind of a product that
can save marriages. This DVD could be one of the best Valentine's Day
gift anyone could receive.
The couple in this film are on the brink of the destruction of their
marriage. Both of them only care about their own issues, and they both
ignore their covenant of marriage. The husband takes the Love Dare (a
well known book that has saved plenty of marriages). Slowly he learns to
live with his wife being more important than himself. He works hard to
earn her trust, and love. She softens and then becomes less selfish
herself.
Sherwood Pictures has improved their craft visually in ways I was not
expecting. This world drew all of us in, and it felt like actually being
there. The anger of the arguments at the beginning was a lot more
intense than I expected. The danger of fire, trains, and other such life
threatening dilemmas got my blood racing. The emotional moments in this
movie brought tears to the eyes of this one time linebacker.
The music, script and sounds are spectacular in Fireproof. The message
of loving someone even when they mistreat you over and over again is
subtle but spoken. The lessons that Fireproof teach can change the
world, and make it a better place for everyone. I was surprised that the
message of redemption was never preachy. Christian films normally get
accused of that, but that does not apply with Fireproof. People of all
faiths can enjoy this drama, and then ask what they can do for their
husband or wife.
Fireproof has a boatload of extras, and special features (see the movie
to understand the pun). The cast and crew must have had a ball working
on this film, as many of these extras point towards. The humor of this
movie is above and beyond what I expected. I have already seen Fireproof
a couple of times, and expect to watch it a few more before the public
release. This movie has a lot of shelf life to it, and I expect millions
to purchase it - mainly because it is worth the price of admission.
Each and every menu screen exhibits and intelligent design. None of us
had any problems navigating the different menu screens. We also marveled
at how well Fireproof functions. I have mentioned the emotional
responses earlier. Fireproof is one of those movies that touches the
heart of the viewer and elicits a strong emotional response. I
appreciated that response, and it has made me a better person, husband,
and father.
Fireproof is all about saving a family from the destructive bondage of
divorce. I can not say enough good things about this film. It earns the
Family Friendly Gaming seal of approval. Fireproof has the honor of
being the first DVD to receive this honor from Family Friendly Gaming. I
look forward to future films from Sherwood Pictures, and can only
imagine what issue they will deal with next. It was my honor to see, and
review this film.
