Elebits
(Second Look)
SCORE: 85
I am not really sure what kind of game Elebits is. It really is not a First Person Shooter, but in some ways it is. Players hunt around the levels trying to find the Elebits which are these fascinating looking little creatures that provide power for all manner of electronics. Each level has a certain number of Elebits to find, and a time limit.
While playing the level, and capturing Elebits certain items will open up because the player has enough Elebits to make it work (for example a television set). Konami did a real good job with this game, especially in the graphical department. There is a certain soft nature to the visuals, but plenty of bright colors. Most levels start out rather dark, but they lighten up as the player has more Elebits. I did have a little motion sickness problem after playing for awhile.
The music is okay in Elebits, but most of this game is visual. The Elebits do make sounds, and that adds to the game play. Speaking of the game play, I ran into one problem while playing - getting stuck on items like plants. Part of this has to do with the unique control scheme on the Nintendo Wii - which can take a little bit to get used to. The moving of items to find, and then capture with the beam work very well indeed.
There are plenty of different modes, and levels to keep players busy
for quite a lengthy time frame. It is neat to see games like Elebits
that are fun, interesting, and generally non-violent. Konami has taken a
step in the right direction with this game.
