Deca Sports

Hudson has another hit on their hands with Deca Sports on the Nintendo Wii. This game includes Basketball, Soccer, Badminton, Archery, Kart Racing, Supercross, Beach Volleyball, Figure Skating, Curling, and Snowboard Cross. A few of these may seem strange, but they work brilliantly in this compilation package. The best way I can describe Deca Sports is Wii Sports maturing to the next level. Players will want to pay attention to the controls as they change with the game. Some games require the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck both, whereas others just require the Wii Remote.

Hudson made Deca Sports full of life with colors that keep the action light hearted, upbeat, and happy. The details are okay in Deca Sports, though they will not tax the Wii to the max. The attire along with the camera angles are just right in all of the sports, including Beach Volleyball. Part of that has to do with the cute characters who are not sexually enticing. There are also cheerleaders for a few sports, but they are the same as the Beach Volleyball - non offensive.

I just love the different music in Deca Sports. The music changes with the different sports, and really fits each one quite well. The only complaint I have is the sound used to go back a menu screen. That sound bothered me a little bit. There is no offensive language, or words in Deca Sports for the Wii.

Hudson included plenty of different teams, sports, and unlockables to keep most players busy for weeks. Four players can play one another locally to compete against one another. Wi-Fi play across the world would have been a wonderful addition to Deca Sports in my opinion.

I absolutely adore how simple the controls are in each of the sports. The Archery works perfectly, and is a lot of fun. Curling requires some thought and strategy. Snowboarding is pretty simplistic, and Figure Skating was more fun than I thought it would be. The three on three basketball was fun, and I would like to see a speed up run button for that one. Kart Racing, and Supercross show some nice potential (pretty simplistic right now). So many games in one package make Deca Sports worth the price of admission.

I really enjoy playing games like Deca Sports. I got some exercise while I played, and it was good, clean, and wholesome fun. I would love to see a sequel to Deca Sports, especially if some of the simple sports are enhanced. Safe for the entire family.
