Culdcept Saga

Namco Bandai has been known for some role playing masterpieces, and some really strange role playing games over the years. Culdcept Saga on the Xbox 360 is part card game, and part board game. Players get cards with monsters on them and then roll dice to move around the board. These monsters can be left on spaces to earn money. The player that reaches the monetary goal first wins the game. Expect games to last a long time before a player wins it.

The visuals in Culdcept Saga have some nice details in almost every aspect of the game. There is some violence as the cards attack one another. This is mild compared to most role playing games. What is more troublesome is the level of occult in Culdcept Saga. The nudity found in this Xbox 360 game is also a major problem. Can anyone explain to the RPG Master why some people think degenerate behavior equates to being more grown up?

The music found within Culdcept Saga is exceptional. There is some excellent treatment given to this Xbox 360 video game in the musical department. The sounds really make the player feel like they are part of an epic event. Some of the special effect sounds get annoying since they are repeated so often. As does hearing which card is fighting which. There is also a problem with foul mouth language in this game.

If you can overlook all of the major problems in Culdcept Saga, and like this kind of card game, board game mixture then you can find a lot of replay value to it. The difficulty level is so high that you will have to replay many of the boards (editor: levels) just to win them.

As the previous paragraph mentioned Culdcept Saga is extremely difficult. There is a learning curve, but it starts out ultra hard. The button configuration works well, but the card selection is rather annoying. Games can be won and lost depending only on the luck of the draw. If you like major strategy then Culdcept Saga may be of interest.

Niche games like Culdcept Saga make the RPG Master wonder if company resources were squandered by Namco Bandai. This Xbox 360 video game may receive a cult following, but Family Friendly Gaming would like to take a moment to encourage Namco Bandai to make more video games that everyone in the family can enjoy. Think of Culdcept Saga as an ‘R’ rated movie that most avoid.
