Cory in the House

Most people have a love or a hate for Disney. I am not in either camp. I am in the let’s be open and honest about our opinions, and biases. Too many non-Family Friendly Gaming reviewers hate anything wholesome, but try to hide that truth. Cory in the House on the Nintendo DS is the best television show based video game in recent history. This game actually feels like the television show, and includes the humor from the show. It took me a few hours to warm up to the humor, but at the end of the game I was laughing with the canned laughter.

Cory in the House tries to do a lot of different things with the graphics. Some of them work, and some of them do not look that great. I really enjoyed the non-violent Metal Gear kind of visual representation. The mini games are quick, simple, and enjoyable. I loved the wiring mini game. The fly robot mini game is the longest in this DS game. The music playing mini game needed a little assistance in the details.

The music in Cory in the House is captivating. I am still humming the main tune after taking a few hours to pray about how to review this video game. The musical interaction was just right for me. There is drama and conflict in Cory in the House; thankfully Disney kept it all clean.

Cory in the House is a little bit on the short side, especially once the player figures out what to do. This DS video game does encourage the player to replay with secret codes, and a better PDA to find hidden items.

The controls in Cory in the House work nicely. Running around and avoiding the brain controlled people is pretty easy. Finding where to go next is also pretty easy. The fly mini game controls strange and there were times it annoyed me. I had fun playing this game, and loved to read all the different dialogue from the diverse characters. Cory in the House is geared towards kids and Disney did a good job with that.

Cory starts out in thinking about himself, and gloating about winning a bobble head competition. He really steps up to the plate to save the President of the United States from the plot of an evil toy maker. Cory routinely helps out those in need. Enemies can be stunned with a kind of a food, and that is as violent as this DS game gets.
