Capcom Puzzle World

Capcom promoted Capcom Puzzle World by boldly stating the inclusion of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. Whereas this game is in this puzzle compilation, it is dated and about the only game in the compilation that may be worth anything. There are a lot of different Buster Bros. video games included, and an ancient Breakout clone. It adds to an already long list of puzzle titles on the Playstation Portable. There are also not a lot of different games included in this package. However there are plenty of families that may find value in this game.

Compilations are always hit and miss in every section especially graphics. There does not seem to be any updates to any of the games, so they are essentially ported over to the Playstation Portable. Capcom Puzzle World shows its age in the visuals in a way that really disappoints this reviewer. There are some violent images in the Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. All of the Buster Bros. games involve shooting balloons into smaller ones until they are all gone. There are some bright and colorful graphics found in most of the games.

I did not hear any offensive sounds while playing Capcom Puzzle World. The music is around average, with some of the older games showing their age in this department. Most of the sounds are crisp and clear although some have a real canned feel to them.

If you like Buster Bros. then a lot of replay value can be found within this game. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is not that great of a puzzle game, and fizzled out very quickly for me. The Breakout clone was more of a chore to play. Even though this can be found for under twenty US Dollars I would say pass on it. Although if you are a huge fan of Buster Bros. then consider it.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, and the Buster Bros. games handle amazingly well. The Breakout clone is nearly unplayable due to control issues on the Playstation Portable. There is some intelligent design to many of the levels in these games. In some ways Capcom Puzzle World is like going back in time, and experiencing some history. Albeit most of this history did not sell well, but history nonetheless.

Puzzle games are generally very family friendly. Aside from the violence issues, Capcom Puzzle World is generally safe for the family. Lessons in concentration, geometry, and minor problem solving are included in this package. The down side to the puzzle genre is the video game addiction problem. I really have no earthly desire to see this game ever again, sorry Capcom.
