Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games

I was pretty excited to hear about a sequel to Barnyard on the Nintendo DS. Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games continues from the movie, and has the player take on the role of a new cow. The Barnyard animals want to hold their own sporting events (like Whac-A-Rac, Chicken Launch, etc). Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games has two phases. The first phase is collecting the items around the farm, and the second phase is playing the different events. THQ made sure that this Nintendo DS video game came with plenty of touch screen controls.

I really like the colorful graphics in Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games. There is some mild violence like hitting raccoons in the head with a mallet. The 3D graphics of the farm are an improvement of past THQ games. Some of the mini games like the bike racing mini game are pretty simplistic looking.  With all of that said, there is still more positives than negatives in this DS game graphically.

There is excellent music, and sound bytes in Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games. I especially enjoyed the sound bytes from the different characters. The humor factor is also included, and that goes a long way in my book. I loved the helping prepare the events concept in Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games. I did not find any offensive sounds in this Nintendo DS video game.

Mini games have to be interesting enough to warrant replaying them. Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games includes quite a few different, fun, and fresh mini games. The twists found in Whac-A-Rac go a long way. I loved driving the truck with melons in the back through the gates, as well as sorting the chicks. If you enjoyed Barnyard or mini game compilations I believe you will find your money well spent on this DS game.

I am most fascinated at how touch screen controls still excite me. Nintendo did a good job with the DS, and the awesome controls in Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games are further proof. I ran into no issues with the controls in Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games. This game is pure, plain, and simple fun. More games should be like it in that regard. The different mini games display an intelligent design.

Back at the Barnyard Slop Bucket Games teaches gamers to assist in the set up of events, and to do their best during a competition. The friendly nature of the characters makes this a very approachable franchise for families. I would love to see more sequels to this franchise, maybe even a game on the Nintendo Wii. Hats off to THQ for this Nintendo DS game.
