Tamagotchi Party On

A lot of people will make the mistake of comparing Tamagotchi Party On! to the Mario Party series. There definitely are some similiarities between the two franchises, but there are also some major differences. Tamagotchi Party On! is more of an interactive board game. There are plenty of mini games, but no party games. That makes this game more like Risk, Scrabble, Monopoly, or Life with additional features.

The graphical style in Tamagotchi Party On! is most assuredly unique, and artistic. I have yet to play this game with anyone who does not like the bright, bold, and colorful graphical style. Everyone has commented on it though. The different characters in this game are very happy, and there are only wholesome graphics used in this game. The details are not up to par with a lot of other next generation console games, but then that goes back to the graphical style. I did not find any offensive or violent images in this game.

The sounds in Tamagotchi Party On! are very crisp and clear. The sound bytes all fit the theme of this game quite well. The music is nice and upbeat in a way that brings a smile to my face. I did not hear any offensive sounds while playing this game.

The goal of Tamagotchi Party On! is to get the highest reputation points to become the new president. Games can be played for thirty minutes or longer (i.e. and hour). I really wish there had been a fifteen minute game, or just ten rounds. This is a wonderful game that can be played with one to four people. I would recommend more than one person playing, because waiting on the computer is never a lot of fun.

We had some trouble playing this game, and most of that had to do with the rolling of the dice. The Wii Remote is used as a hammer that launches the dice. This should have been pretty random, but player one, and two kept getting the same number. An improvement would be the way the dice is rolled. Some of the mini games require little Wii Remote usage, and that was also a bit of a disappointment. The board designs are very intelligent however, even though players must land exactly on certain squares.

Tamagotchi Party On! is one of those gems that everyone in the family can enjoy playing. It is simple enough that young children (four and up) can play, and interesting enough to keep the attention of adults. I would like some sequels to this game to come out, especially if the two gameplay issues were addressed. Family time is promoted with this title, and that always gets our attention.
