Spongebob Creature from the Krusty Krab

Spongebob Creature from the Krusty Krab

SpongeBob Squarepants is the most controversial cartoon character the WMG has ever come across. Even bringing up the name SpongeBob in some areas is a recipe for disaster. There is also a fan base out there who seem to worship this character and his cartoon show. This game on the Nintendo Gamecube, and Sony Playstation 2 has SpongeBob, Starfishman, and Plankton as playable characters. The game includes 3D action levels, racing levels, flying levels, and smash everything in sight levels. Some of the levels of this game are really strange - like being trapped inside a bull worm.

Graphically SpongeBob CFTKK has some nice little 3D action levels. Bikini Bottom is fleshed out nicely in this game. There are a couple of different art styles used in this game. There are also some really annoying cel shaded levels that wound up giving me a migraine. The space flight levels have some very nice graphics indeed. Some of the graphics are bright and colorful, and some are really dark. The images of the characters while on the racing levels is revolting in their darkness. There are sections of cartoon violence, as the bad guys must be spun away.

The sounds in SpongeBob CFTKK are weird. Most of them are crisp and clear, with some haze effects that are by design. There is some name calling in this game, and other crude style comments. The commentators before the levels have some of the strangest dialogue the WMG has ever heard in a video game. It must be the humor from the show, but the WMG did not get it. There were also some encouraging remarks by the computer in a few select areas. Most of the sound effects were annoying, especially the commentary that is repeated way too many times.

SpongeBob CFTKK is pretty much a one time shot video game. There are some hidden items in the game that the player can search for, but honestly they are not worth it in the WMG’s opinion. Only one player can play this game at a time. Ultra fans of the series may want to check this game out, but otherwise it is not worth the money.

Normally the variety of the game play would be a good thing. Sadly each different kind of game style is overused so much that this game started feeling boring beyond belief. The controls worked well. This game includes saves all over the place. The designs of the levels were amazingly linear. Honestly the WMG did not have fun playing this game at all. The game play even with the variety is boring.

Morally and ethically the WMG was really looking for some major flaws in the FFF part of this review. The negative comments, and cartoon violence are all that is wrong in this grading section of SpongeBob CFTKK. There is a lesson about not eating Krusty Krabs (think of a hamburger) before going to sleep. The WMG has certainly played worse, but still recommends a pass.
