Planet Puzzle League

If you have played any of the Meteos games, Zookeeper, Pokemon Trozei, Bejeweled, or Meteos Disney Magic then you have a general idea to the gameplay found in Planet Puzzle League. There is one major difference though - those games include a lot more character. The Meteos games also include some nice twists to this kind of puzzle action. This is not a bad game on the Nintendo DS, it just has been done before on this system (and other systems) quite a few times, and is not that innovative.

The visuals in Planet Puzzle League are bright and colorful in most levels of the game. There is some background graphics that are really loud, and a few that are just too busy. Thankfully these can be altered easily in the options lest a seizure or migraine is triggered. There are also quite a few different backgrounds to choose from. There were no offensive images that I noticed while playing this game.

The audio department of Planet Puzzle League is decent. Full voice chat is supported in case you have a friend (editor: via the friend code system) that you want to talk to while playing. Make sure you know the person well, otherwise profanity may fill your ears. The special effects of the sounds are very crisp and clear.

Puzzle games can have an almost unlimited life span, and Planet Puzzle League is no exception. The only concern I can see is video game addiction. If you think yourself, or your child is addicted, then flee from it. There are plenty of modes to play, music, and graphics to mess around with. Planet Puzzle League is a decent game, but I like Meteos Disney Magic, and Zookeeper better.

The biggest knock I have against Planet Puzzle League is the controls. The left and right only swapping of tiles feels like a step backwards from other similar puzzle games that allow up and down as well. The touch screen play mechanics work splendidly. I did find this game fun to play, although I do like certain previously mentioned games better.

As a mother of two, how friendly a game is to all ages is very important to me. Planet Puzzle League does not disappoint in the Family Friendly Factor. This is a safe little puzzle game that teaches matching, pattern recognition, and concentration. If your children need exercises on those things, then give Planet Puzzle League a serious look. This game is safe for the entire family, and I would like to see a sequel - especially if they include the up and down tile swapping.
