Meteos Disney Magic

Disney DVD movies are a favorite in our home just behind the Veggie Tales DVD's. So when a fun puzzle game came along with a Disney theme I put in my request to review it. Meteos was well received by Family Friendly Gaming, and for good reason. It was (editor: and still is) an innovative, exciting, and fun puzzle game. The unique features of the Nintendo DS were utilized quite well. Launching blocks off the screen by lining up three or more in a horizontal, or vertical arrangement. It is important to let ya’ll know that the Nintendo DS is held sideways to play Meteos Disney Magic. The inclusion of Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story, Cinderella, and The Lion King really make this a game to check out. I am not that wild about the inclusion of The Nightmare before Christmas, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

The graphics in Meteos Disney Magic are very bright and colorful. Be careful to not be distracted by the action of the Disney characters, instead focus on winning the level. The images that are shown are unlocked in the Extras section of this game. The two Disney franchises that are included in this game that I am not wild about may have images that could be scary to your children. There are also some images of violence, but not a lot in my playing experience.

The wonderful music from the different Disney franchises are included, and this really adds to the game play experience. I liked most of the music in this game. There were no offensive sounds that I found while playing this game.

I really like how the unlockables work in Meteos Disney Magic. After playing a level, I would unlock some nifty little content in the Extras section. Disney Interactive Studios included all kinds of different ways to play this game, and all of them are certainly worth your hard earned dollars. The different difficulty settings, along with the major multi-player modes can keep owners of this game busy for months to come.

The touch screen interface works even better than the original Meteos, and the left/right addition is one of the recommendations Family Friendly Gaming gave the developer (editor: always nice to see our suggestions being implemented). The layouts of the different levels, and menus works just as they should.

Meteos Disney Magic is a game that I have looked over and will let my own children play. It teaches concentration, pattern recognition, and touches on the lessons learned in plenty of different Disney movies. I really wish the Nightmare franchise was not included. This game goes beyond just a re-hashing of a good game. The Disney label is a very nice inclusion. What would be great is if a Veggie Tales version of Meteos was made as a sequel. It was my pleasure to play, and review this game.
