Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 march of the minis

Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 march of the minis is a cute little puzzle game on the Nintendo DS. The storyline follows Mario and Donkey Kong both releasing wind up toy versions of themselves around the same time. This happens at the Super Mini Mario World theme park. Pauline gets the choice of a Mario or Donkey Kong toy, and she chooses Mario. This decision enrages Donkey Kong, and he kidnapped the beautiful Pauline, so it is up to Mario to use multiple mini toy versions of himself to save her. Over eighty levels await the player, and some very interesting boss levels. Players are encouraged to create their own levels, and then share them across local wireless, and Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. The question becomes are you ready for some mini mayhem?

The graphics in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 march of the minis is a breath of fresh air. The colors are all bright, and colorful (as pictures on this page exhibit). The details of the wind up toys are done way better than this reviewer was expecting. The little cut scenes before, and after a boss battle are awesome eye candy for those graphic hounds. The artwork is cartoony classic Mario that has pleased generations for decades now. Wholesome images are used properly in this game. Pauline is dressed borderline enticement to lust, but is only seen twice in the entire game. There are no other offensive images that I noticed in this game.

The sounds in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 march of the minis are very crisp and clear. The sounds that come through the Nintendo DS are great. The music has a jazz feel (at least to me), and is a nice change of pace from many other Mario games. There are also some classic Mario tunes found within the game at various levels. The sounds all work well with the game, and have a perfect timing with the animations. The music is cheerful, and brings the mood up into the pleasant brightness of the stellar graphics.

The Creation mode editor adds a near endless replay value to this game. The eighty levels, along with all of the really cool collectible items also increases the replay value. The game grades the player on their performance, and gives nothing, a bronze, silver, or gold star. There are also letters in each level, and spelling out the entire word in one world opens a mini game for the player. The Wi-Fi allows players to share the levels they create with other players, thus making this fun for more than one person. In this reviewers humble opinion this game is worth your hard earned dollars.

The gameplay in this game works really well. Draw a line in a direction to have a mini Mario go in that direction, touch them to have them stop, and draw a line up to have them jump. These all work really well, and are simple to pick up and learn. The designs of the levels are amazing to see. It may take a few tries to get through some levels, and that leads to appreciation for the design of the levels. I had fun with this one.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 march of the minis teaches concentration, thinking, and solving problems that appear in front of you. Puzzle games like this one are a real treat to play, and review. I would recommend this game to a pastor, and consider safe for the entire family. The creation of the players own levels really helps people explore their God given creativity.
