Konami Kids Playground Dinosaur Shapes and Colors

Konami has a Kids Playground now, with Dinosaur Shapes & Colors being the first in the line up I have seen. This Playstation 2 (PS2) video game is for the ages two through five. This is a very good targeted video game for the youngest video game playing members of the family. If you allow your children to play video games at that age. I was not able to, but then accidentally breaking an expensive controller may have had something to do with that. Like the name of the game states, dinosaurs teach the child about colors and shapes. This is done with twelve different mini games. It is important to note that not all of these mini games teach an important lesson. Or at least I can’t figure out what color/shape I was supposed to learn with a jump rope mini game.

All of the dinosaurs got some serious visual character going on. It would not surprise me to see a cartoon series based off the characters from this video game line up. All of the dinosaurs are friendly, happy, and helpful. I did not find any offensive images while playing Dinosaurs Shapes & Colors.

The audio department of Dinosaurs Shapes & Colors is fascinating. All of the directions are spoken to the child. Many of these are repeated each time a mini game is started. If you have ever had to deal with children, then you know repeating instructions is all part of the process. I liked how the dinosaurs thanked me for playing with them. It goes without saying, but there are no offensive sounds in Dinosaurs Shapes & Colors.

This PS2 video game is geared for the younger side of the target range in my humble opinion. The jumping around action on the controller mat will tire them out, but they will have energy after nap time. This is a game that is worth your hard earned dollars if you have children in the previously mentioned age bracket.

The controller, and the mat both work. The mini games are fun for children. As an adult I could easily identify the lessons being taught by Konami. All of those lessons are appropriate for this age of children. I think there is some intelligent design to the layout of the mini games. Dinosaurs Shapes & Colors is very forgiving and tells the child to try harder when a mistake is made.

Pastors should check Dinosaurs Shapes & Colors out for their children’s church. I would like to see more games along this line, especially for when I get married and have children of my own. It is pretty cool that Konami is providing a video game like Dinosaurs Shapes & Colors. Family Friendly Gaming has been asking for games like this for years, and a shout out goes to the publisher.
