Code Lyoko Quest for Infinity Quest for Infinity

Code Lyoko fans can rejoice because the hottest selling home video game console system (editor: the Nintendo Wii) has a very nice video game version of the cartoon. X.A.N.A. is up to its old tricks in the digital world, and it is up the small band of heroes to save the day yet again. Replica areas are being created, and the team tracks them down to remove them. There are some shooting levels, action adventure hack and slash levels, and an occasional puzzle thrown in for good measure. Code Lyoko Quest for Infinity utilizes many of the features of the Nintendo Wii, but always takes time to teach the player new controls.

The graphics of each area fit the theme quite nicely. Since this is a digital world many of the rather stale background graphics fits into the storyline. This is however a graphical improvement upon the Nintendo DS version. The cut scenes are at the level of the cartoon, although they are recycled in various parts of the game. There is shooting, or sword swinging cartoon violence against digital monsters. The camera never caused a death, but the lack of rotation was noticeable when backtracking. The volcano world gets pretty dark and that caused a few deaths.

The music in Code Lyoko Quest for Infinity is just as majestic, if not more so than the Nintendo DS Code Lyoko game. The voice acting is excellent, and really immerse the player into this fantasy world. There are a few places where there is some minor name calling/insults between characters.

The Game Factory made sure plenty of unlockables are present. The goodies is one of the reasons to replay this Nintendo Wii video game. Code Lyoko Quest for Infinity also includes some wonderful drawings from a contest related to this video game. If you are a Code Lyoko fan, then pick this Nintendo Wii video game up.

Using the Wii Remote to point where I wanted to shoot, and using the Nunchuk controller to move around works amazingly well. The only issue I had with the control scheme was the ‘B’ button being used for shooting, and the ‘A’ button for jumping. Reversing them as the default would have been my personal preference. I had fun playing Code Lyoko Quest for Infinity, even though some of the levels can get repetitive. The bosses in this video game start out easy, but become quite challenging.

Code Lyoko Quest for Infinity improves upon some of the problems I had with the Nintendo DS version of Code Lyoko. The authority issues have been toned down, and the criminal acts by the team has been taken out entirely. Odd is grossly over powered in this game, or the others are just lacking. Some sequels would be nice, especially if there are some more complex puzzles thrown in.
