Build a Bear Workshop

I must admit that I was very excited to hear about a Build a Bear based video game, and that it was being developed by The Game Factory on the Nintendo DS. Build-a-Bear Workshop lets people from all age groups, walks of life, gender, sex, and religions create their own digital build a bear. My children have been fans of the build a bear stores for years now. Mom has also had a soft spot for these cuddly little creations. Right from the start each player gets to create their very own build a bear with a decent selection of stuffed animals. After that process is complete then playing with, and buying clothing is the main stable of the game play.

The graphics are done in a pleasant fashion in Build-a-Bear Workshop. There are plenty of colors that give a realistic feel. That may sound strange since I am talking about an imaginary friend that walks and plays with the gamer. The graphics on some of the mini games are a little bit smaller, and less impressive than other areas of the game. I could not find anything offensive in the visual arena of this Nintendo DS video game.

The music is very soothing, and enriching. The special effects sounds really add a dimension to this game, and brought a smile to my face. All of the sounds within Build-a-Bear Workshop are crisp and clear. It is so nice to play a video game that has no offensive language in it. My bears hat goes off to The Game Factory.

Build-a-Bear Workshop includes wireless play so friends can trade items, and compete against one another in the mini games. It would have been great if Build-a-Bear Workshop had Wi-Fi access and let players connect from around the world. Maybe a sequel could include that feature. If you, or your children are into Build a Bear then this is one DS game you should strongly consider purchasing.

I had no problems with the controls in Build-a-Bear Workshop on the Nintendo DS. My five year old son needed help stitching up his digital frog stuff animal. The mini games are generally pretty easy at first, but get progressively more difficult. The majority of Build-a-Bear Workshop is controlled via the touch screen. This game is so much fun that my son keeps asking to play it.

Build-a-Bear Workshop is one of those safe for the entire family video games that you can leave your child with. They will learn to comb their hair, brush their teeth, and clean up their rooms before going to sleep. Fun little games like musical chairs, and dancing are also included. Sure I couldn’t hug my digital build a bear, but then the ones in my room do not dance, kick a soccer ball, or show any other signs of interactive life.
