Bomberman Live

Bomberman has made it to the Xbox 360 in the form of a downloadable game. This game is best played across the Xbox Live (a gold account is needed of course), or with three friends huddled together around the Xbox 360. Hudson Entertainment included an insane amount of customization for create your own character (editor: ten thousand different combinations). Players plant bombs in order to blow up obstacles, and then try and blow up their opponents. The goal is to be the last Bomberman standing. Oh and be careful not to blow yourself up, since that is also possible and very easy to do.

The graphics in Bomberman Live are bright and colorful. There are a couple of different play fields. The exploding violence is cartoonish and at the level of the Looney Tunes. I am happy with the amount of levels, but some more would have been nice. The artwork is classic Bomberman style, which seems to get a love it or hate it reaction from most.

The sounds in Bomberman Live are nice. The exploding bombs never reach the level of being annoying - unless I happened to blow myself up. These sounds are crisp and clear throughout the game. Of course the sounds fit the theme of the game quite well.

Bomberman Live can be played, and replayed for months especially if you are the competitive kind of person. Xbox Live keeps stats and players can see how they stand up against Bomberman players from all over the world. This game can also be purchased for a very low price, and certainly is worth your hard earned dollars if this is your kind of a video game. Family Friendly Gaming loves video games that bring people together and Bomberman Live does just that. The amount of customization is simply astounding.

The controls in Bomberman Live work quite well, and there is some definite intelligent design behind the layout of the levels. I had fun playing this game, and enjoyed the different game play modes. I have never been the most competitive person, mainly because I have achieved beyond my wildest dreams already in life.

There are a few different lessons that can be gleaned from Bomberman Live. One of them is get them before they get you. Another is strategic planning before acting. Your outlook on life will determine which of these you will get out of Bomberman Live. I would like to see some additional downloadable levels added to this game, and maybe a one player mode fleshed out. Bomberman Live was designed well for its intended audience.
