Adventures in Odyssey and the Treasure of the Incas
SCORE: 94
Focus on the Family has been thrilling millions with their Adventures
in Odyssey brand name in radio, video, and books for many years. Digital
Praise quietly snapped up the license to do some PC (Personal Computer)
games based on the Adventures in Odyssey universe. Treasure of the Incas
is in the Adventures in Odyssey universe. A rock gets thrown through
Eugene's window. As the rock is investigated, a note is found. Thus
begins the journey that eventually leads to jungles in South America.
Treasure of the Incas is a mystery game where a lot of information is
learned about Eugene's past. The theme of this game is trust.
The graphics are bright, and colorful in a cartoonish manner. Not
everyone will be into this art style, and more animations were really
needed for all of the characters. The sounds are very well done, as is
the voice acting. That voice acting is of the highest quality. There are
mini games to be played, and replayed if the player desires. The
gameplay is well done, however it can be confusing at time. There were
times this reviewer struggled with trying to figure out what to do next.
There were other times that the gameplay was a little simplistic. This
game hits the 'DING' at the strongman hammer bell game (at most county
fair's) with the extras. The game includes a whole audio episode: "The
Cross of Cortez." Who could ask for anything more in form of extras?
As you (the reader) may imagine the Family Friendly Factor scores as
high as possible in this game. This game is pure family friendly gaming
fun. There is no violence, no bad language; nothing to offend or
embarrass you. The game is fun, engaging, clean, and wholesome.
Digital Praise did an extremely good job with Adventures in Odyssey
and the Treasure of the Incas. It is highly encouraging to see companies
releasing wonderful games like this one, that are family friendly, and
fun. The only encouragement this reviewer gives the developer is to make
the next game(s) just a bit longer. Even though this game does not
receive a perfect score, it is still one that we give our seal of
approval to. In other words we recommend it.
