Sonic Unleashed

Sonic Unleashed Sonic Unleashed Sonic Unleashed

I saw Sonic Unleashed on clearance, and decided to purchase it. I had wondered about this Sega game, and noticed no one else had reviewed this game, so I hoped for the best. The Xbox 360 version has a little logo that this is in their Family Games line up. I am really not clear how Microsoft makes that distinction. It must be the rating. Speaking of the rating, the ESRB decided Sonic Unleashed earned an E10+ for Everyone 10 and up. The descriptors are Animated Blood, and Fantasy Violence. Can anyone out there explain to me why a Sonic game needs blood? So Sonic turns into a Werewolf at night in Sonic Unleashed. He has night time levels where he hacks and slashes his way through numerous enemies. The day time has Sonic completely normal, and he races through standard Sonic levels in sort of 3D. Sonic is contained on rails, but has a little wiggle room. The wiggle room is one of the biggest problems in this game, as well as the speed. I ran into spikes before I even saw them. The mixing of hack and slash with racing levels is one of the things that kills this game. Expect a full review in a future issue of Family Friendly Gaming. {05/12/2010} - Luke
