League of Legends Game Review

League of Legends (LoL) is a game developed and published by Riot Games. This Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) pits together two teams in a map called the Summoner’s Rift. While other game modes are available, the clash between the two opposing groups of players in this specific map may be one of its popular choices among various gamers.

Features

Many people in the gaming community compared LoL with another MOBA called Defense of the Ancients 2 (DoTA 2) from Blizzard Entertainment. While both games are in the same category with similar features, the two titles have differences.

For example, DoTA 2 has a more extensive map compared to LoL’s Summoner’s Rift. While it may mean fewer exploration possibilities, LoL might offer faster gameplay than Blizzard’s MOBA title. Players clash more frequently in LoL’s standard map, thereby making opportunities for more games played in a certain period.

Another set of features are LoL’s items. Players can equip their champions (the characters in LoL) with different pieces of equipment to help put the odds of winning in their team’s favor. It’s essential to note that LoL doesn’t have couriers like DoTA 2. Thus, players can only buy their preferred items back in their respective bases.

Despite LoL’s smaller map than DoTA 2, it also means players need to spend more time going back and forth to their bases to buy gear.

However, certain features may only be accessible for high-ranked accounts. If you don’t want to climb up the ranking ladder from the bottom, you can buy new accounts like those offered by UnrankedSmurfs.com.

Graphics

Many MOBA titles for the PC don’t need high-end graphics cards for you to play the game properly. LoL falls under that category, but you can still improve the game’s graphics with a better Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). Still, even if you have a low-end graphics chip on your PC or laptop, you may manage to run the game at 30 frames per second (fps) at low settings.

Thankfully, the game may still have a pleasing appearance even at low graphical settings, unlike playing Tales of Zestiria at the weakest graphics configuration. The trees don’t look as pixelated as you might initially think. Also, you don’t need to get a close look at the champions every time you’re playing the game.

As a LoL player, you might play this game with a pseudo-isometric view. It might even be close to a bird’s-eye view of the map and its characters. Thus, you don’t have to take a good look at the character models all the time, unless you prefer that playstyle.

Still, players who prefer playing at high graphical settings may not need to spend a lot of money on a high-end GPU. LoL may run reasonably well at medium to high graphics settings even with a mid-range graphics card.

Entertainment Value

Different genres and titles exist in the video game industry. Therefore, LoL may or may not be an excellent choice to play for all gamers. Nonetheless, fans of MOBAs may still get the fun they seek in LoL.

Matches in the Summoner’s Rift can become unexpected. Even if you know who you’re up against, you might not know what’s going to happen as you turn that corner at the top or bottom lanes. Many champions offer surprise attacks, like Rengar. Therefore, you need to be critical about your choices, even if it requires you to make split-second decisions.

This element wherein you train yourself to prepare for the unknown may help players reach a level of fun, unlike playing other titles in the genre. Fifteen minutes of preparation to get an item might go fast as clashes might finish within a few seconds.

However, those few precious seconds of game time may spell the difference between victory and defeat for teams. Even if one champion survives from that clash, it can put one side at a tremendous advantage. Killed champions need to wait for a period before their base resurrects the character. By that time, your base might face several champions and minions from the opposing team.

Remember, LoL might only be as fun as you want it to be. There’s no glory in cheating your way to victory. While Riot Games imposes strict rules regarding cheating, specific individuals might still exploit the game with underhanded ways to attain achievements. Thus, play the game using legit methods to avoid the developers from slamming the ban hammer on you. Last, always remember that it’s still a game; be humble in the face of wins and defeats.
