Return to Mysterious Island 2 is back on iOS

Experience a whole new amazing adventure with “Jules Verne’s Return to Mysterious Island 2” on iPhone and iPad

Montreuil (France), July 3th, in the year of our Lord 2012 -- French publisher Anuman Interactive is, once again, following in Jules Verne’s footsteps via its Microïds collection, and has announced the release of “Jules Verne’s Return to Mysterious Island 2” on iOS.

After its first adaption of Jules Verne’s novel, released on iPad in Fall 2010, “Jules Verne’s Return to Mysterious Island – Deluxe Edition”, Anuman Interactive is heading back to the island with its release of a second installment of this adventure game.

The heroine of the first episode, Mina, and her monkey sidekick Jep find themselves safe and sound aboard the helicopter that came to save them in "Jules Verne’s Return to Mysterious Island - Deluxe Edition” (the first episode), but they will not be breathing easy for long. Events take a turn for the worse when the helicopter crash lands and sinks to the depths of the ocean, all illustrated by a comic book-style full motion video. This is where the adventure begins for the player, who takes on the role of Jep and must help Mina to escape from the helicopter’s cockpit.

In the same way as in “Jules Verne’s Return to Mysterious Island – Deluxe Edition”, the player can explore the 3D environments with a 360° view. Players will be able to use their devices to their full potential during their quest. For example, the iPad or iPhone’s movements will be reproduced in the game.

In “Jules Verne’s Return to Mysterious Island 2”, players are able to switch roles between the two heroes so that they can find objects that will help them solve riddles. Players can choose whether they take on the role of Mina or Jep, depending on which character will be more helpful for each of the various tasks they will come across during the adventure. This means that a real teamwork aspect develops between the characters as the game progresses.

The role of Mina will put the players’ intellect to the test thanks to her ability to combine objects. As for Jep, he can use his animal charms to interact with the local wildlife (by grooming his fellow primates, for example) in order to get food, and he can also climb trees to get objects that are out of Mina’s reach. This partnership between the two characters will allow players to progress through the game, and to explore it to the maximum in order to contact rescue teams and save the island, mysteriously struck by environmental changes with potentially disastrous consequences.

The characters’ survival is, therefore, crucial and highlights the need to find food (an energy gauge shows players Jep's energy level, which will influence his ability to complete tasks). It will also raise the question of health and hygiene and will strengthen the friendship between Mina and Jep (Jep will have to treat Mina’s injuries following the crash, for example). From this perspective, the dialogue interface is more user-friendly, with the character's picture displayed on the right-hand side of the speech bubble.

To help them succeed in this adventure, players have access to an interactive inventory where they can store and combine objects that will be useful for progressing through the game (for example, combining a blade with a whetstone in the inventory will create a sharp blade). The quick inventory enables players to equip themselves with an object and to use it to interact with the surroundings or the people they meet.

An automatic save system makes it easier for players to save their progress in the adventure. For an even greater immersive game experience, players can activate the Compass Look function that reproduces the iPhone or iPad's movements within the game interface (for example, pointing the device up will allow players to find things concealed in the trees).

Please note: Now two versions will be available on iOS, each one a full version of the game: an iPhone version and a Universal version (which works both on iPhone and iPad with an optimal screen resolution and an interface that is adapted to both devices).
