UPSIDE coming to DVD October 5th

ATLANTA GA September 13, in the year of our Lord 2010 – Faith-based movie fans will see in new ways with the October 5, 2010 DVD release of Spyplane Films’ UPSIDE.  This fresh story of faith, romance, and coming of age is an inspiring reminder that when life gets you down, there’s always an UPSIDE. It stars Randall Bentley of the hit NBC television series HEROES and marks the feature film debut of writer-director Kenneth Horstmann. The DVD is distributed by Provident Films.

Horstmann and his partners at Spyplane, Casey Wallace and Andrew Grein, have a company goal to produce “quality, entertaining products we believe God would be proud of.” And UPSIDE meets the standard.  Entertaining?  Check.  UPSIDE’s also that rarest of finds: a true original.

UPSIDE Synopsis

From the looks of things, Solomon White has a well-mapped future. Finish his senior year of high school, select an elite university, continue his lacrosse career, and reap the rewards of success on whichever road life takes him.

But a devastating hit on the lacrosse field leaves his world literally turned upside down. Will he be able to gain the perspective needed to face his new reality?

UPSIDE provides a fresh look at life through the eyes of a young athlete as he struggles to discover where he’s headed, both figuratively and literally. Viewing the world upside down is a challenge few will ever face, but that hardly is the extent of Soli’s pressing concerns.

He has trouble at home with his mom, he’s trying to end his relationship with his girlfriend, and he has to come to grips with a teacher that thinks he can be much more than he wants to be. Suddenly, Soli’s senior year looking nothing like he imagined it would be.

Add in an unlikely love interest and her strong faith in God, and Soli must take a new look at everything he believes in.

Can Soli win the heart of Wren, who happens to be blind?  Can he believe in something he can’t see? Will he find a new direction for his life, even if his eyesight never returns to normal?

When you can’t trust your eyes, you still have your voice. This fresh story of faith, romance, and coming of age is an inspiring reminder that when life gets you down, there’s always an UPSIDE.

Touching All Audiences

UPSIDE
’s interconnecting stories offer something for everyone.  Mrs. Buck (TAYLOR ST. CLAIR) is Soli’s demanding English teacher whose counsel and tough love push him past his own perceived limits; meanwhile, her belief in God costs her. Craig Parker (JEREMY HARRISON) is a former student of Mrs. Buck’s, now a young college writing professor unable to move on after his own personal tragedy.  And there’s Soli’s mom, Karen (KATHIE SWENN), driven to push Soli toward his dreams ... or are they hers?  From high schoolers, to college students, to young professionals, to adults, UPSIDE is a wide invitation for audiences to see life more clearly.
