The Mysterious Islands Releases

SAN ANTONIO TXAUG. 30, in the year of our Lord 2010—On Aug. 31, THE MYSTERIOUS ISLANDS, a stunning and sweeping new DVD documentary from Vision Forum Ministries and Erwin Brothers Films, invites you to the Galapagos Islands--one of Earth’s most remote and fascinating points. This 90-minute visual adventure pursues the answer to the single, vital question: “Is the Galapagos a laboratory for evolution or a glorious testimony to God’s creation?”

Alongside a bold Christian team of scientists, father and son adventurers, and cutting-edge filmmakers, families and kids now can journey 600 miles off the cost of Ecuador (home of the giant Galapagos tortoise!) to the very islands Charles Darwin visited more than 150 years ago.

“Darwin got it wrong on the Galápagos, and his conclusions have led these islands to not only become the Mecca for evolutionists, but also the launching ground for the modern environmental movement,” expedition leader Doug Phillips explains. “Many Christians are genuinely confused on how best to respond to these ideas, and The Mysterious Islands helps to fill this critical gap through a cinematically beautiful film.”

Perfect for homeschoolers and families who love nature programs, THE MYSTERIOUS ISLANDS explores the critical evolution/creation conversation through the eyes of Phillips’ oldest son, 16-year-old Joshua. Also along to explore and discuss are Dr. John Morris, renowned author and speaker on the relationship between science and the Bible, and award-winning filmmakers Jon and Andy Erwin.

In THE MYSTERIOUS ISLANDS, Doug Phillips and noted researcher Dr. John Morris make a compelling scientific case for creationism.  The home schooling community embraces the film as a scientific apologetic supporting Creationism, and challenging the generally-accepted Evolution theory taught in public schools.

Mystery and Beauty
In spectacular cinematography some compare to Disney’s EARTH, THE MYSTERIOUS ISLANDS walks, dives, and soars from breathtaking vistas high atop volcanic peaks to depths beneath the waves, among schools of white-tip sharks, and alongside some of the earth’s most unique land life, such as salt-sneezing lizards, flightless birds, and tortoises that can live more than 150 years. Step by step, following Darwin’s well-documented path, Doug and his team detail how the evolutionists interpreted his view . . . and how a faith-informed perspective leads to decidedly different conclusions.

Education and Entertainment
‘The spectacular photography is both awe-inspiring and educational,” Dr. Tommy Mitchell, adjunct professor with Answers in Genesis said.  “Viewers can truly understand the flaws in Darwin’s ideas while realizing the truth of the Genesis account. This film is must-viewing.”

With documentary facts and adventure thrills, THE MYSTERIOUS ISLANDS enlightens as it entertains—all in the year of the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his landmark On the Origin of the Species.  In fact, this was the only Christian film crew to shoot on the Galapagos during the important anniversary year.

Don't miss what Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association, calls "a powerful apologetic for God's hand in creation," and a film that
belongs in  "every family library."

THE MYSTERIOUS ISLANDS is distributed on DVD by Provident Films.
