Scripps Spelling Bee Announced

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – May 28, in the year of our Lord 2010 – This fall, the nation's largest and longest-running educational competition, Scripps National Spelling Bee, will be open for all players to put their spelling skills to the test as THQ Inc. today announced that the Scripps Spelling Bee® video game is coming to the Nintendo DSi™ and DS™ systems.  From practice sessions to Championship mode, Scripps Spelling Bee makes learning fun by engaging players in a variety of challenges, all in an effort to win trophies and prizes to become the ultimate spelling wizard champion. The game will also include an educational feature that will allow players to input their own list of spelling words into the mini-games, as well as help to create custom study lists.

About Scripps Spelling Bee

Scripps Spelling Bee presents a variety of ways to practice one’s spelling through three modes: Championship, Practice and Mini-Games. The Championship mode allows the player to go through a revised version of the tournament that is broadcast on ABC and ESPN. The Practice area lets the player go through a Spelling Bee without the pressure of points or elimination and with a few added bonuses along the way.  The Mini-Games section houses a variety of fun spelling and word puzzles, such as Word Memory, Word Maze and Word Search. The player’s progress throughout the game is tracked in the Trophy Case menu, where the player can see their scores and prizes, as well as unlock special themes and icons for the game.
