Preschool is Cool Counting with Elmo Release Date

BURBANK, CA (July 16, in the year of our Lord 2010) – Get ready to learn all about numbers with Elmo, everyone’s favorite furry 3 ½ year-old monster, as Warner Home Video (WHV) and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, release Preschool is Cool: Counting with Elmo on DVD September 14, 2010 for a SRP of $14.98. Elmo and his pals help make preschool and learning numbers cool in this engaging new DVD that’s filled with loads of counting fun.

As part of Sesame Street’s new Preschool is Cool set, Counting with Elmo finds Professor Grover as a preschool teacher and Elmo as his helper for today’s counting lesson—in a real preschool! When silly Professor Grover starts to have a little bit of trouble remembering what each number is, he needs Elmo and the class to give him a helping hand. Featuring counting themed songs stories like “Counting Booth,” and “Abby’s Sparkle Speckle Freckles”, kids will have fun learning with Grover and Elmo and all their Sesame Street friends.

Counting with Elmo supports early math skills such as number recognition, counting and enumeration — all which help lay the foundation for math readiness and future math learning. Kids will see their favorite Sesame Street friends practice skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s, which helps children understand that a purpose of counting is to determine the total number of things in an overall set.

“Warner Home Video is very happy to introduce Counting with Elmo, our newest DVD title in Sesame Street’s new DVD set Preschool is Cool,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President, of Family, Animation & Partner Brands Marketing. “Counting is an essential tool that every preschooler must learn and there’s nobody better than the beloved Elmo and Professor Grover to show kids how fun and exciting numbers can be.”

Celebrating its impressive 40th anniversary, Sesame Street is the longest-running program in children’s television. The series has received more Emmy awards than any other show in television history, including a Lifetime Achievement Award honoring its 40th year.
