Photos from Pokemon Video Game Championships Held in Seattle

 


On Saturday May 8th, over 2,000 people (and Pikachu) attended the Pokemon Video Game Championships at the Seattle Center's Exhibition Hall.  The tournament hosted top regional competitors as well as players from across the country during an entire day of head-to-head video game fun with the ultimate goal of earning an invitation to compete in the Pokemon Video Game World Championships In
Hawaii, on August 13-15.
 
Christopher Kopkas, age 7, from Bellevue, WA holds his trophy high overhead at the Pokemon Video Game Championships at th Seattle Center Exhibition Hall on Saturday, May 8.  Kopkas is 7 years old and attends Newport Heights Elementary.  Claims Kopkas, "I didn't think I was going to win.  I was just trying my best."  Kopkas will advance to the Nationals competition in Indianapolis in June.

The thrill of victory was exhillerating for 7 year old Max Whitney who ended up placing 3rd in the Juniors Division, from over 200 kids in his age group at the Pokemon Video Game Championships held at the Seattle Center on Saturday, May 8.  Max and the other top 3 finishers in each division recevied an invitation to compete at the Pokemon Video Game National Championships in Indinapolis in June as well as a Nintendo DS system.

Pokemon fans Emily Zunser, 19 and Katie Ash, 24 got in the spirit for the kickoff to the 2010 Pokemon Video Game Championships which was held on Saturday, May 8 in Pokemon's US headquarters, Seattle where over 2,000 people turned out for a full day of video game play at the Seattle Center.  Pokemon will hit seven cities with similar tournaments across the US before holding the national competition in Indianapolis at the end of June, followed by the World Championships in Hawaii, on August 13-15.
