Konami Launches DanceDanceRevolution for PS3 and Wii

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - November 16, in the year of our Lord 2010 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced the availability of two new titles in their best-selling rhythm-based series, DanceDanceRevolution. Making its debut on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, DanceDanceRevolution for the PS3 will have players grooving to the beats with extended full-body movement via Sony's new PlayStation®Move motion controllers. For all the  Wii™ fans, DanceDanceRevolution makes it return to the platform with all new upgrades including a Choreograph Mode, featuring over 50 tracks, ranging from popular hits to original dance music and enhanced multiplayer capabilities.

"For the first time ever, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. is offering consumers two very different DanceDanceRevolution titles in the same month - one that revolutionizes the classic dancing series by utilizing the technological capabilities of the PS3 to its fullest, and another that combines the easy-to-pick-up-and-play mechanics of past DanceDanceRevolution titles but with all new features," said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "Both games capture the true essence of DanceDanceRevolution, providing players of all ages the opportunity to get-up-and move with one of the biggest and best interactive dance games in history."

In the PS3 version of DanceDanceRevolution, a new mode has been implemented where users will be able to dance using the DanceDanceRevolution dance mat controller and the PlayStationMove together. Users will be able to have fun using both their upper and lower body as they dance to the indicators displayed on the screen. This allows total freedom of movement on the player's part, with the screen areas allowing users to adopt a comfortable dancing style. As the player holds the PlayStation Move Motion Controller, a ball of light appears on screen and must be pointed at correctly when instructed. The world famous footstep arrows will trail up the screen simultaneously adding new challenges to the game. The PlayStation Move Motion Controller is also used to vary on-screen visuals with combinations of button presses and movement used to add visual effects to the on-screen action. This will create a striking aesthetic interpretation of the player's dances.  Players can also see themselves in action using the PlayStation®Eye and upload their greatest hits to social networking sites via PlayStation 3 XMB™ (XrossMediaBar) menu to share their DanceDanceRevolution skills with friends.

DanceDanceRevolution PS3 also adds new game modes to the series. In Dance Off Mode, up to four players can take turns running through the same dance. The player that is able to keep in step more accurately will earn more points and be crowned the winner. Club Mode is specifically created for die-hard DanceDanceRevolution fans. In this mode, gamers can continuously play over and over again in a marathon session. The difficulty level of the tracks will change along with the dances the players are challenged with as they get further and further into the session.  As an added obstacle, various tricks will also come into play. Gamers will be able to play from four to 20 tracks in succession depending on their skill level.

In the DanceDanceRevolution Wii, players can experience the new Choreograph Mode where the dance mat controller, Wii Remote and Nunchuk™ are used simultaneously to mimic the movements of the characters on-screen. This mode will allow both beginners and experts to take their dancing skill to a new level. The traditional DanceDanceRevolution gameplay has evolved as well including Wii Balance Board™ compatibility where you can work out effectively with your whole body using your waist, hands and legs. A new multi-player mode is implemented where four people can play simultaneously to make dancing in your living room even more fun!

DanceDanceRevolution for PS3 and Wii is now available in retail stores nationwide for the SRP of $69.99 and comes bundled with a DanceDanceRevolution dance mat controller. For more information, please visit our product page at www.konami.com/ddr.
