Herzing University Expands Bachelor of Science in Game Development Degree

BROOKFIELD AND KENOSHA, WI (September 30, in the year of our Lord 2010) – Herzing University announced today it is expanding its Bachelor of Science in Game Development degree program to its campuses in Brookfield and Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Game Development degree program has been operating at Herzing University – Madison since 2006.

“We believe the Game Development program will be very popular with students who have both strong artistic and computer skills, as well as a love of computer games,” said Brian Olson, Vice President of New Operations and Acting Campus President for Herzing University - Brookfield. “This is a very contemporary program that blends online technology with graphic design to produce entertainment and business tools that are engaging and interactive.”

The Game Development program prepares students for careers in game development for various electronic media platforms, including computers, cell phones, and game consoles, as well as for careers in the broader interactive and graphic arts fields. Herzing game development students have won numerous awards for their game development skills at events like PlayExpo, held annually at UW-Whitewater, where Herzing students won Best of Show awards in the Games for Fun and Serious Games categories, beating students from various other game schools and Top Ten Institutions, and was the only university to win more than one category. Herzing students also won five first place awards at the 2010 Midwest Game Fair.

“The game development degree is very popular among younger students who have grown up playing video games and want to learn how to create games,” said Krista Wills, Campus President of Herzing University – Kenosha.

Applications are now being accepted at the Brookfield and Kenosha campuses for students interested in beginning the program in September 2011. Students who wish to begin their programs earlier can apply at the Madison campus.

The average length of time for a student taking a full course load in the BS – Game Development program is 36 months or 3 years. To learn more or register for classes, students are encouraged to call 1-800-596-0724 or visit www.herzing.edu to find the campus and program of their choice.
