Temptation

I have completely finished playing both VeggieTales: LarryBoy and the Bad Apple video games (PS2, and GBA versions). I spent some time in prayer before writing either review, and really meditated on the games.  I realized that these two video games are true shining stars in our industry. Oh sure there will be nay sayers, and maybe even an occassional worldy person (who claims to be a Christian) that will be negative. But I see no reason to join them in the mud, especially when a video game like this one points the proper direction for video games. Families are crying out for help with issues that are directly related to temptation.

Teach people something productive. Teach them something they can use. Temptation is something that each and everyone of us has to deal with on a daily basis. For years now, plenty of gaming journalists have complained that video games do not address important issues. Crave Entertainment went up to the plate, and they released a video game that addresses an important issue. I for one recognize this, and applaud Crave Entertainment for doing so. They broke new ground in an industry where the complaint is too many video games are stale carbon copies. They went a good direction with these fun, cool, and innovative video games.

I have talked to a lot of fellow Christian gamers who have clamored for some more good, fun Christian video games. Many have demanded a VeggieTales video game.  Thousands were shocked over a year ago when Family Friendly Gaming broke the news about a console VeggieTales video game in development. Brothers, and sisters you got what you wanted. You got a VeggieTales game on the home (and hand held) console. You got VeggieTales on the most successful system of this latest home console war. You got a VeggieTales game on a Nintendo system as well. Big Idea worked with Crave Entertainment to bring this dream to reality. They released these games at the bargain basement price of $19.99 MSRB (US Dollars).

Now here comes your part. You can waste some of your money on a video game that the world calls good. You can prove yourself to be a poor stewart with your finances, and buy moral filth. You can accept what the world tells you to do, and you can accept what the world tells you is fun. You can embrace those chains, and celebrate that enslavement. OR. You can spend some of your money on what God calls good. You can prove yourself to be a good stewart with your finances, and buy this video game. Will you accept what the world tells you to do, or will you listen to what God says? Spend a few hours listening to God, and see if He wants you to support fellow believers or not.

If you want more Christian video games, then this is a no-brainer. In order for there to be more Christian video games, then the current batches of games have to sell. If they don't sell, then people in suits will think there is no market for it. A whopping 80% of Americans claim to be Christians. Crave Entertainment has put a game on the market that 80% of Americans can enjoy. If you are one of those 80% of Americans, you have no excuse. Don't give me excuses, take them to God. How will God judge your decision?

God bless you and yours,
