EB Games has earned themselves some negative press. I have heard a lot of fellow gamers grouse about poor service, bad advise, and a plethora of other problems experienced from EB Games. Well I experienced some of that today at an EB Games myself, first hand, up close and personal.

Whenever certain companies forget to send us a game to review, we go to retail chains to pick it up. We pay taxes to the state for each issue of FFG we sell. Since video games are part of the material that goes into producing this product, we do not have to pay retail sale tax. It is a business to business transaction. On occassion an employee who has not been trained in how to do a business tax exempt purchase will hassle us, and we have them call a manager. The manager sets them straight, and apologies are issued.

Today we had an employee refuse to process us with business tax exempt status (in other words refuse to obey the law). This employee claimed to have called a manager, but we have no way of verifying if this was true or not. EB Games was where this happened. So EB Games, you have now earned some negative press thanks to your rude employees in your Supermall location. So if the game you have been requesting is not reviewed soon you can talk to EB Games about their employees stiff arming the little guy.

The official state document was presenting to employees and they were requested to comply with the terms of that official state document (which bears the seal of the state). The employee claimed they had a corporate policy to not obey state law. This is pretty amazing that EB Games would so arrogantly ignore the laws of the state, and instead cite their own corporate policies as trumping the laws of the state.

We are not calling for an out and out boycott of EB Games. For those of you who also have had problems from an EB Games store we not only can feel your pain, but we can also understand why many of ya'll have chosen to shop elsewhere. What else this has shown me is that certain developers (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft) need to put us on their press contact list. On the plus side, we can now totally relate to all of ya'll who have had problems with EB Games.
