A Death in the Family

Recently my grandfather died. He has a personal relationship with Jesus, and is in heaven right now as I type this. Death is a part of life that many of us try to avoid. It is a part of life, one part that all take part in. There really is nothing to fear concerning death. Sure we will miss him, but also acknowledge he had a long, and full life. He died in a peaceful manner in his sleep. As I go to the funeral very soon, I will try and comfort those extended family members who are deeply mourning his passing on to glory. He is with his wife now, and very happy. He wants us to keep up the good fight. We still have a long race to run, to get to hear: "well done good and faithful servant." I personally am at peace about his death.

I am not always sure how to approach a subject like this, but it is one that families all over the world deal with on a regular basis. It reminds me that you never know when your number will be up. You never know when you will get the call. Life is so very precious, and we should use every single moment we have to be thankful. Take an extra moment to hug a loved one. Children need to be re-assured, and loved. Spend a little more time listening to the concerns of others. Show them how much you care.

The day will come when I will get to see him again. Along with other friends, family, and loved ones who have shed this mortal coil. I am not rushing towards that day, nor do I fear it. It will happen in God's perfect timing. What joy there will be when I reach the finish line. There are so many people I am looking forward to talking to. Celebrating ones life is a time of joy for me, and not one of sadness.

God bless you and yours,
