Looney Tunes #21

Looney Tunes #21

I found Looney Tunes #21 for two dollars at that McKAY's store outside Nashville in the summer of 2023. Based on the front cover of this comic book and the fact that it was sealed in plastic with a board I could not tell what issue it was. In fact I had to look at the credits information to find out what issue this comic book was. I also found out that Looney Tunes #21 was released in August of 1978 for thirty-five cents.

There will be spoilers in this review of the Looney Tunes #21 comic book. There are five stories within Looney Tunes #21. Carrot Crooner, Second Rate Mate, Tinkering Around, A Herd of Hunters, and Muscle Mafia are the stories within Looney Tunes #21. The first two stories are five pages, the next two stories are four pages, and the last story in Looney Tunes #21 is also five pages. That is twenty-three pages of comic book content.

Advertisements can be found all throughout the Looney Tunes #21 comic book. Some of these older advertisements are extremely interesting to me personally. I was six years old when Looney Tunes #21 was released. Cool Cat is a character in the Herd of Hunters story in Looney Tunes #21. This is the first time I remember ever hearing about this character. I do not recall him from my youth.

There is plenty of humor within Looney Tunes #21. Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck are found prominently within Looney Tunes #21. So is Elmer Fudd. We also find Sylvester and Tweety Bird in Looney Tunes #21. Bugs Bunny is able to deceive multiple different characters within Looney Tunes #21. The art is older in Looney Tunes #21 and not that greatest. Looney Tunes #21 does contain a bit of cartoon violence within it too.

This comic book is not in the greatest of shape. Still it is interesting to see such an old comic book and how things were done. The advertisements are also fascinating in Looney Tunes #21. I liked the theme of exercising and getting into better shape in the Muscle Mafia storyline. I am confused as to why Daffy Duck wanted on that boat in the first place. He can fly and swim.
