Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves

I was excited and interested to see Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves. I saw the trailers, and heard from others that they liked the film. Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves is a bit different than I was expecting. There are some cool elements and some lame elements within Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves. I will get into those in just a minute. There will be spoilers in this review.

The issues families will have with Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves are violence, blood, bad language, theft, magic, and more. There are humorous elements within Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves. There are references to well known D&D locales like Baldur's Gate in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves. There are plenty of chase scenes in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves. The one with that really fat dragon was interesting.

A bard and a barbarian are in jail in Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves. They get to the point where they are up for parole. An eagleman comes in and they use him to escape. The rub here is they were going to be paroled so they had no need to escape. The bard is Edgin Darvis - played by Chris Pine. The barbarian is Holga Kilgore - played by Michelle Rodriguez.

We learn throughout the movie that Edgin Darvis had once been a Harper. The Harpers are a peace keeper force. Edgin steals some gold from a Red Wizard because he was tired of being so poor. That gold was magically protected so the Red Wizard could follow it back to his house. His wife is killed and Edgin has a baby to raise. Holga Kilgore meets Edgin as he is at rock bottom.

Holga and Edgin become thieves that do not hurt others. They take a job for another Red Wizard and they get trapped and caught. This leaves Edgin's daughter alone with no family. Why did he take the job? For a tablet that could bring his wife back to life. Edgin does eventually get the tablet and after all this effort to bring his wife back he decides to bring back Holga who died near the end of the movie.

There are plenty of interesting magical objects found in Holga Kilgore. I love the one that lets someone create two portals to traverse across distances up to a quarter of a mile. The main part of Holga Kilgore is a heist where they are trying to steal from one of their previous companions Forge - played by Hugh Grant. By the way Forge is a piece of work with his lying and scheming. In the process the group winds up stopping a plot of the Red Wizards. I would love for Shadowrun to get the same treatment this movie did.
